A 23-year old maid from the Philippines now suffers from severe burns all over her legs and back. She was working for her Saudi boss in the city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when he threw boiling water at her.
Her cousin rescued her from the hospital and has shared this image in a Facebook post. She also claims that she was beaten by her boss within five days of her arrival in Saudi Arabia and at times was deprived of food.
She's now in the care of the Filipino Embassy and her cousin is calling for action.
This maid is one of millions of Filipinos known as an Overseas Filipino Workers, or OFW. They are Filipinos who live outside of the Philippines to work and make a living for their families back home. Many of them are mistreated by their employers and suffer consistent abuse.
